4/20/2015 Cougars Boy's Golf Wins One and Loses One

On one of the most gusty days of the spring, the Cougar boy's golf team managed to hold on to one win in a three way meet with Southmont and Western Boone at Twin Bridges on Tuesday. And once again the recent rains made for a course saturated in fairways, unplayable bunkers, and lots of casual water and places to never find an embedded ball. Having just played at Twin Bridges in the Danville Invitational, the schools already knew the course conditions but we're having to face the atmospheric conditions of strong, gusty winds. It was going to be a matter of who could best handle the windy conditions to come up with the best team scores.

Austin Judy carded a 41; Jake Holtze shot a 44; Preston Porter shot a 46; Danny Smith and Emmett Holsapple both brought in 48's; Aaron Green shot a 57 and Austin Wright a 69. The team score of 179 was enough to earn a win over Southmont, shooting a 195, but wasn't enough against Western Boone shooting a 166. Medalist for the meet was Nic Wilson from Western Boone with a 36 for par. This is a great score under the conditions of play for the night.

The Cougars play against Tri-west Thursday at Quail Creek and then Saturday in the Southmont Invitational at Crawfordsville Country Club.

The Cougar boy's golf team travelled to the Danville Invitational Saturday and performed very well amongst some larger schools and tough competition. Teams scores respectively were Jake Holtze, 79; Danny Smith, 82; Austin Judy,85, and competing the team scorecard with an 88 was Logan Grim, giving the Cougars a very respectful score of 334. They placed fifth out of 18 schools competing. The team will play Triwest Monday at Quail Creek and then back home Tuesday in a three way meet with Southmont and Western Boone.

The Cougar boy's golf team travelled to Deer Creek golf course to meet up against the Monrovia Bulldogs for their second meet of the season. North Putnam improved upon their first meet by dropping off 8 strokes, shooting a 168. Monrovia scored a 241. Medalist for the meet was shared by Austin Judy and Jake Holtze, both carding a 41.

The NPHS boy's golf team had their opening meet against Rockville and Turkey Run at Twin Bridges golf course. Getting their golf season off to a good start, the Cougars beat both Rockville and Turkey Run with a score of 176. Rockville came in second with a 200 and Turkey Run third with a 207. Medalist for the meet was Austin Judy with a 39. The team travels tonight to Deer Creek to meet up with Monrovia.
