The following was sent to all NPHS Parents regarding upcoming activities and general reminders:

Good afternoon: Please see the important information below regarding North Putnam High School:

Grades: It is an important time to check your student’s grades.  The end of the nine weeks is Friday, October 7th.  If students are missing assignments or are performing below expected levels, now is the time to talk to your students and/or teacher. Report cards will be published on Friday, October 14th.

October 12th: Our team has worked hard to develop some interesting opportunities for students on what is typically a very difficult day in high schools across the state.  October 12th is PSAT day, and all 10th and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT for the entire morning of the school day.  That causes an issue for our 9th and 12th grade students, as many of the teachers they would see are involved in the testing sessions.  Here is the plan for these grades: 9th Grade - full day field trip to Greencastle (information and details previously sent) 12th Grade - AM sessions as follows:     - Herff Jones Presentation - Cap/Gowns and Announcements     - Basic Car Maintenance     - Basic Cooking for young adults     - Personal Finance 101     - Donate Life Indiana

Fall Break: Fall Break is from October 17-21st.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Teachers will be reaching out next week via email to the parents they would like to see on Parent/Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Wednesday, October 26th in the afternoon and early evening.  If you have a teacher you would like to meet with, please feel free to reach out to them directly to set up an appointment or time to meet.  Conferences can be held in person, by phone, or virtually using GoogleMeet.

Senior Parking Spots: Since the completion of the north lot, our students have asked if they could have assigned spots that they could decorate.  This was approved by our central office, and students were notified earlier this week about this optional activity.  This is available to all 12th grade student drivers.  We will be planning some painting parties where we will close the lot in the early evening or weekend days in order to allow students to paint in the parking lot.  Please be aware of any cones during this time.  All painting is to be completed prior to the end of Fall Break, and students may only paint during approved times.

European Trips: Mr. Kramer and I will be leading two separate trips to Europe in the summer of 2024.  Both trips provide students and adults with great learning opportunities.  If you would like to learn more and/or sign up, you can visit the NP Travels Website at: https://www.nputnam.k12.in.us/o/nphs/page/np-travels  If you enroll by September 30th, you can save $200 as an early enrollment discount.

Cougar Care Pantry: Our JAG Program has developed a Food Pantry that is open to all residents of Northern Putnam County.  The food pantry will be open from 4:00-6:00 PM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.  The Food Pantry will be open for the first time this next Wednesday, September, 28th.  Patrons should enter Door 16 which is in the back of the building.  Please feel free to share this information with your friends, family, and neighbors.  We are also always accepting donations for the pantry.  Donations may be dropped off at the front office during normal office hours.

College GoWeek: College Go! Week is an annual, statewide event to promote enrollment in two- and four-year colleges across Indiana.  College Go! Week 2022 is set for September 26-30, 2022.  It is important that students develop plans while they are in high school to either Enroll in further education, seek Employment with a company or business, or Enlist with a military branch or government agency. The following days were developed by our Jag Program to recognize College Go! Week: Monday - PJ Day "Don't be Lazy - Apply for College - Follow your Dreams" Tuesday - Career Day Wednesday - Favorite College Gear Thursday - Neon Day "Your Future is Bright" Friday - Flannel Day "FALL-ow Your Dream Friday"   Trunk or Treat: A popular activity each year is our Trunk or Treat event held by the North Putnam FFA.  The date for this event is Tuesday, October 25th.  More information will follow early next month.   Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.  We appreciate the continued support of Cougar Nation, and are proud to be working with your students each day to help them grow and mature and prepare for their postsecondary plans.   Jason
